In turn, India issued a similar advisory for Indian nationals and students residing in Canada. The advisory recommended that individuals exercise “utmost caution” due to rising anti-India activities and “politically-condoned” hate crimes in Canada. This growing tension could potentially lead to a major confrontation if not addressed diplomatically.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in New Delhi expressed concerns about “threats” targeting Indian diplomats and sections of the Indian community that oppose the “anti-India agenda.” As a precaution, Indian nationals were advised to avoid traveling to regions and venues in Canada that have witnessed such incidents. However, the Canadian government rejected India’s travel advisory, asserting that Canada is one of the safest countries in the world. In response, the Indian government firmly rejected these allegations, deeming them “absurd” and “motivated.” The situation escalated further with the revelation that the United States had provided intelligence to Canada regarding Nijjar’s killing.
