ABVP’s Aryan Maan wins DU students’ union presidency with big margin; ABVP secures 3 posts, NSUI bags vice president

Aryan Maan, the presidential candidate of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), won the Delhi University Student Union (DUSU) election on Friday by a significant margin.

New Delhi (India) September 19: ABVP candidate Aryan Maan wins the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) presidential election. The RSS-backed ABVP candidate defeated NSUI. NSUI had only won the position last year after a seven-year period. Aryan Maan defeated Joslyn Nandita Choudhary of NSUI by a margin of more than sixteen thousand votes.

Joslyn of NSUI received 12,645, whereas Aryan received 28,841 votes. The ABVP was elected to three of the four positions: President, Secretary, and Joint Secretary. But they lost the vice presidential election.

Leaders like Amit Shah, Rekha Gupta congratulate winners

Rekha Gupta is the chief minister of Delhi. She congratulates the Delhi University Students' Union winners on Friday. She advises them to fulfill their obligations to the university.

She says, “Heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to all young comrades on ABVP's splendid victory in the DUSU election. This victory is not just of an organisation, but of every youth who considers patriotism, discipline, service, and struggle as the guiding path of their life.”

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also congratulates all of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) candidates who won the Delhi University Student Union (DUSU) polls on Friday. He says that the result shows how young people believe in the "Nation First" philosophy.

Aryan Maan is a student in the Department of Library Science at Delhi University. He is from Bahadurgarh in Haryana. He graduated from DU's Hansraj College with a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) degree.

Maan vows free Wi-Fi, metro pass discounts, better sports facilities

Maan's campaign for this year's DUSU election concentrated on important student concerns. The concerns included discounted metro passes, free campus Wi-Fi, accessibility audits, and improved sports facilities.

Maan said, “The ABVP's capable leadership has always been trusted by students of Delhi University. This year, we are determined to ensure adequate sports facilities and nutrition, campus accessibility audits for students with special needs, and free Wi-Fi access across DU. With these initiatives, we aim to establish Delhi University as a premier global institution” during the campaign as per PTI.

Aryan Maan is also a state executive member of the ABVP. He has been actively involved in student movements headed by the ABVP over the years. The campaigns include opposing fee increases and projects to upgrade university facilities.

ABVP wins President, Secretary, Joint Secretary; loses VP seat

Rahul Jhansla of NSUI is elected as the Vice President. Kunal Choudhary and Deepika Jha of the ABVP are named as the Secretary and Joint Secretary.

The All India Students' Association (AISA) and the Students' Federation of India (SFI) did not win any seats.

NSUI alleges it faced “combined force” of BJP, RSS, DU administration

Varun Choudhary is the national president of NSUI. He praises the union's efforts in conducting these elections. However, he claims that the NSUI was running against the "combined force" of the Delhi University administration, Delhi government, Centre, RSS-BJP, and Delhi Police.
