New Delhi (India) October 10: Afghanistan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi on Friday responded to Pakistan’s airstrike in Kabul and stated that doors are open for talks, diplomacy and countries with issues should address them within.

Muttaqi says force cannot solve problems, urges Pakistan to choose dialogue

Describing peace and stability as beneficial for all, he mentioned that the geography of our country provides an opportunity to become a transit of substance.

He said, “I think it’s a wrong step by the Pakistan government. Such issues cannot be resolved by strength... If someone dares to commit such acts, they should first talk to Britain, the USSR, and America-they’ll tell them it’s not good to play such games with Afghanistan.”

He added, "Yes, I have this information that a blast was heard in Kabul, but we do not know what this sound was, and no casualty has been reported so far. However, in border areas, some attacks have happened, and we condemn it. We have opened the doors for dialogue and diplomacy. Countries with issues should resolve them internally. I don’t understand why some people have problems with the peace Afghanistan has achieved after 40 years. Peace and prosperity are good for all. Our geography allows us to be a substantive transit route. As much as we want good relations with India, we want them with Pakistan too, but it cannot be achieved by us alone.”

India praised as close friend, embassy in Kabul to reopen soon

In the meeting, Jaishankar informed that India would be reopening its Embassy in Kabul after it was closed down four years ago. India had withdrawn its personnel from its embassy in Kabul when the Taliban seized power there last August.

In June 2022, India re-established its diplomatic presence in the Afghan capital by sending a "technical team". In a statement, Muttaqi described India as an important country in the region and that it has always assisted the Afghan people in different fields.

He said, “In the recent earthquake in Afghanistan, India was the first responder. Afghanistan looks at India as a close friend. We want relations based on mutual respect, trade and people-to-people ties. We are ready to create a consultative mechanism to strengthen our relations.”

He added, “I am happy to be in Delhi, and this visit will increase the understanding between the two countries. India and Afghanistan should increase their engagements and exchanges. We will not allow any group to use our territory against others,” he added.

Afghanistan rejects any foreign military presence on its soil

When he was asked about US President Trump's threat that claimed the country would recapture Afghanistan's Bagram airbase, Muttaqi said the nation of Afghanistan did not accept foreigners' military presence in their soil and will never accept it.

He said, “We are a free and proud nation. If you want to have a relationship with us, establish a diplomatic mission, but we won't accept anyone else in military uniform on our soil."
