Amid escalating tensions on the border, BCCI suspends IPL 2025
A BCCI official has said that the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) has been stopped due to the rising tensions between India and Pakistan.

New Delhi (India) May 9: Due to the IPL 2025 postponement, the season's result is now questionable. The BCCI said on Friday that the league will be permanently suspended due to the increasing security concerns brought on by the growing military conflict between India and Pakistan.
Due to air raid alarms in nearby towns of Jammu and Pathankot, the Punjab Kings vs. Delhi Capitals IPL match at Dharmshala was cancelled in the middle of the game. As of right now, it is known that players, match officials, and broadcast staff may travel safely by train from Dharmshala to Delhi.
BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla stated that,“We’re organising a train to bring everyone back safely. The match has been called off, and the stadium evacuated. We will decide on the tournament’s future based on tomorrow’s situation, but player safety is our top priority.”
Since last night, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has been contemplating every possible option. Given the present atmosphere of the country, it is known that the Indian cricket board does not want the league to continue.
The action was taken a day after the Delhi Capitals vs. Punjab Kings game in Dharamsala was cancelled. This happened after Pakistan launched eight missiles against Satwari, Samba, RS Pura, and Arnia, all of which were stopped and destroyed by air defence forces.
According to reports, international players were nervous and wanted assurances from the Indian government and BCCI that they would be allowed to stay in the nation. The Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans were travelling to their respective stadiums for upcoming games when the IPL was cancelled.
There are 12 group-stage matches left in the league and will be played in Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Jaipur, Hyderabad, and Lucknow. The playoffs were scheduled to take place in Kolkata and Hyderabad. The last match was cancelled due to the air attacks by the Pakistani army.
