IPL 2025: Matches restart from May 17 and final on 3rd June
The BCCI released a new schedule on Monday night, stating that IPL 2025 will start on May 17 and end on June 3.

New Delhi (India) May 13: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Monday that the Indian Premier League will restart on May 17 and that the final will take place on June 3. Six locations will now host the IPL, which was put on hold last Friday due to tensions between India and Pakistan. The locations for the playoffs are still to be decided. The way was cleared for the T20 competition to restart after a ceasefire was declared on Saturday.
The BCCI said in its official release that,“After extensive consultations with government and security agencies, and with all the key stakeholders, the Board has decided to proceed with the remainder of the season.”
“The BCCI takes this opportunity to once again salute the bravery and resilience of India’s armed forces, whose efforts have enabled the safe return of cricket. The Board reaffirms its commitment to national interest while ensuring the successful completion of the league,” the board also added.
After discussions with the government, the Board released the updated schedule, making Royal Challengers Bengaluru to play against the Kolkata Knight Riders on Saturday May 17 once the tournament resumes in Bengaluru. On Sunday, there will be two games in Jaipur and Delhi, with the Rajasthan Royals playing the Punjab Kings in the afternoon and the Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Titans playing each other in the evening.
Six cities—Lucknow, Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, and Jaipur—will host the remaining league stage games.
The match between the Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings will also be rescheduled, and it will be played on May 24 in Jaipur. Due to tensions, the game between these two sides was previously called off in Dharamsala after 10.1 overs.
The entire ODI series between England and the West Indies, which begins on May 29 in Birmingham and will end on June 3 at The Oval, will now take place during the postponed IPL, which was originally set to end on May 25 in Kolkata. With Australia and South Africa scheduled to compete for the Test world title starting on June 11 at Lord's, the updated IPL schedule also reduces the time between the IPL final and the WTC final to only seven days.
