Pakistan violates ceasefire again; drones spotted in Samba and Jalandhar
Late on Monday, May 12, 2025, drone activity was seen for a few hours near the International Border in the districts of Samba in Jammu and Jalandhar in Punjab.

New Delhi (India) May 13: Residents of Jammu and Kashmir's Samba area reported hearing loud explosions and seeing red lines in the sky on Monday night.
The drone activity along the border happened just hours after the meeting of India's and Pakistan's directors general of military operations (DGMOs) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's first speech to the country after Operation Sindoor.
There was no need for panic, the Army had declared.
Late in the evening, however, the Army declared that everything was under control and that everything was peaceful. "No enemy drones are being reported at present.”
The army also added that,"A small number of suspected drones have been observed near Samba in Jammu and Kashmir. They are being engaged."
In Jalandhar, Punjab, a top district official revealed that a suspected "surveillance drone" had been neutralised by the security forces.
Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Aggarwal said that, "I have been informed that one surveillance drone was brought down by the armed forces around 9:20 p.m. near Mand village. An expert team is looking for the debris.”
According to unverified reports, Pakistan also launched small weapons fire in Jammu's Pargwal and Akhnoor areas. As a precaution, Poonch-Rajouri has been placed under total blackout. Pakistan also fired small guns at the International Border in the Samba and Hiranagar areas, to which the Border Security Force responded equally.
Also, Amritsar, Punjab, and some parts of the districts of Hoshiarpur were subject to precautionary blackout measures.
According to sources, an IndiGo flight headed for Amritsar returned to Delhi following the implementation of blackout measures.
They added that because of the precautionary blackout, the Amritsar airport was closed, therefore the flight had to return.
Amid the circumstances, blackouts happened at a number of locations in Samba, Kathua, Rajouri, and Jammu.
As a precaution, lights were turned off at Mata Vaishno Devi's cave shrine and along its path.
