Amit Shah Slams Congress Over Terror Stance, Nehru's Legacy, and Pahalgam Attack Response in a Strong Lok Sabha Speech

New Delhi (India) July 30: Union Home Minister Amit Shah attacks the Congress party for its soft stance on terrorism. He cites the 2008 Batla House encounter. He also mentions the "shedding of tears" by top Congress leaders for the killed terrorists.

Shah Questions Opposition

In a strong speech in the Lok Sabha, Shah questions the UPA's response to terrorism. He claims that the BJP government's military killed the Pahalgam attack killers in three months.

Shah said, "They were asking yesterday where the perpetrators of Pahalgam went... Humari sena ne thok di. Those who were hiding during your tenure are being searched and killed today."

Batla House Controversy

Shah also brings up the Batla House incident that took place on September 19, 2008. He says that he witnessed party leader Salman Khurshid crying for terrorists who had died.

He said, “"Early morning, I was having breakfast when I saw Salman Khurshid crying. I thought something serious had happened. He said Sonia Gandhi cried for the Batla House terrorists. If she had to cry, she should've cried for martyr Mohan Sharma instead."

Failure at UNSC

Shah also blames Nehru for India's failure to get a permanent seat on the UN Security Council. He claims, "It was Nehru's decision that cost us the UN Security Council seat".

He highlights a series of historical mistakes by the Congress. The mistakes had a lasting effect on India's reputation around the world.

The Home Minister also says, “China was in the Security Council, and India was not.”

He adds, "PM Modi is working hard to get India into the Security Council, but the root of the problem lies in Nehru ji's letter. This legacy has passed down generation after generation."

Shah Targets P Chidambaram

Amit Shah accuses the Congress of protecting Pakistan by bringing up comments made by senior official P Chidambaram. Chidambaram had questioned Operation Sindoor.

Shah asks, "Why are you giving a clean chit to Pakistan?" the Congress ministers during the discussion on Operation Sindoor.

Shah says, "If Chidambaram says these were not Pakistanis, then it means that the former home minister of the country is giving a clean chit to Pakistan in front of the world. With such a statement, the Congress functionary is questioning the rationale behind the attack on Pakistan.”

Amit Shah claims that although the world accepted Pakistan's involvement in the attack, Chidambaram was still raising questions. He says, "Had he asked me, I would have given him proof". He accuses Congress of planning to protect Pakistan.

The Union Home Minister also delivers a harsh attack on the Congress. He claims that "Pakistan is Congress's mistake". He openly blames former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru for the creation of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

Shah says, “If PoK exists today, it is due to Jawaharlal Nehru’s ceasefire. The blame lies with Nehru".

He refers to the 1949 decision to suspend military operations during the initial conflict between India and Pakistan. The decision permits Pakistan to maintain authority over a part of Kashmir.

He states that Congress had again failed to represent the interests of India.
