New Delhi (India) July 29: On Tuesday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah identified the three terrorists killed in Operation Mahadev in the Lok Sabha. The names of the terrorists are Jibran, Afghan and Suleman. They were all members of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). They were directly involved in the horrible Pahalgam terror attack.

Shah Confirms Terrorist Identities

Shah said, “In a joint Operation Mahadev, the Indian Army, CRPF and J&K Police have neutralised three terrorists who were involved in the Pahalgam terror attack,” in Lok Sabha. The speech took place during a debate on Operation Sindoor in the Parliament on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the home minister, two of the four people who verified their identities. The two people were detained by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

Shah said, “The NIA had already arrested those who gave them shelter. Those who fed them were detained. When the terrorists' dead bodies reached Srinagar, they were identified as the three people who carried out the terror attack in Pahalgam.” 

Shah adds that ballistic tests were carried out at the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Chandigarh. This is done to verify that the weapons used in the Pahalgam attack were identical to those carried by the terrorists who were killed.

Operation Mahadev

The operation was conducted on Monday in Srinagar's Harwan area. It is close to the Dachigam National Park. It happened after intelligence received reports of militant activity.

According to the Indian Army's Chinar Corps, the surrounding area of Lidwas was the site of anti-terror Operation Mahadev.

Weapons Recovered Signal Cross-Border Supply Chain

According to sources, the army discovered advanced weapons such as the M4 Carbine. It is manufactured in the United States. This suggests that a well-organized supply chain was being run from the other side of the border.

The security officers also confiscated a hybrid Russian AKM 7.62 rifle and a Romanian Model 90 assault rifle and American M4 Carbine. According to sources, local militants in the Valley hardly ever use such superior weapons.

Search Continues for Possible Escaped Militants

On Tuesday, Operation Mahadev began its second day after security forces got new information regarding the alleged terrorist movement.

Intelligence organizations are trying to compare the deceased's biometric and facial information with what is already on record.

According to security forces, two or more people may have been with the terrorists who were killed and may still be hiding in the Dachigam area.

The operation began when the Army intercepted a suspicious distribution earlier in July. They spent 14 days closely monitoring a group of Lashkar and Jaish terrorists.

India replied with precision strikes under Operation Sindoor. They targeted terrorist sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). This happened after the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
