New Delhi (India) December 24 : A disordered conflict break out at the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation meeting on Tuesday, as councillors from Congress, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) engaged in a physical fight.
The clash disturbed proceedings and emphasized growing political tensions in the city. The incident, which raised during a discussion on important public matters, drew extensive public criticism.
Heated Debate Turns Physical
The meeting, initially focused on addressing key municipal concerns, quickly spiralled into chaos. Disagreements over alleged irregularities in city projects fuelled a heated debate.
As the verbal arguments became more intense, the situation took a violent turn. Councillors from the three parties began pushing, shoving, and throwing allegations at one another, unsettling the official proceedings completely.
Accusations Fly Across Party Lines
The dispute was sparked by hidden political rivalries. Congress councillors accused the BJP-led administration of mismanaging municipal governance, quoting ongoing issues with city development projects.
In retaliation, BJP members blamed AAP for stirring conflicts and delaying progress. An AAP representative countered the accusations, claiming, "This chaos was deliberately incited to stall discussions on critical public issues."

A senior official remarked, “The people of Chandigarh deserve better than this display of hostility.”
