Greater Noida Dowry Death: Nikki Bhati’s Husband, In-Laws Arrested After Brutal Murder Caught in Horrific Videos

New Delhi (India) August 25: The 28-year-old woman's suspected dowry murder has led to the arrest of Nikki Bhati's father-in-law Satyavir and brother-in-law Rohit Bhati.

During treatment at Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi, Nikki passed away from severe burn injuries. She sustained the injuries after allegedly being beaten and set on fire at her in-laws' Greater Noida residence. 

Nikki Bhati was killed on Thursday of last week. This was for reportedly demanding a dowry of Rs 36 lakh. Earlier, her mother-in-law, Daya, and husband Vipin Bhati, were taken into custody.

Nikki Bhati was violently abused by her mother-in-law and husband on Thursday, August 21st. According to a First Information Report (FIR) that Nikki's sister Kanchan was also beaten when she rushed in. She lives with Vipin's brother Rohit.

Shocking videos show Nikki beaten, burned alive

Vipin is accused of drowning Nikki in flammable liquid and setting her on fire.

Vipin and Daya are shown physically abusing Nikki in horrifying images that Kanchan posted. A burning Nikki appears to be coming down a staircase in one video. Another recording shows Nikki sitting on the floor, suffering from severe burn injuries.

Kanchan recorded Nikki being beaten and burned. She feels that if she had not done so, no one would have known about the murder.

On December 10, 2016, Nikki and Kanchan tied the knot with their brothers, Vipin and Rohit, respectively. Kanchan claims that although their father provided an adequate dowry, the Bhati family were demanding more and abusing two sisters.

According to Kanchan, the in-laws didn't appreciate that the two sisters owned a makeup studio.

Police say Vipin tried to flee custody, shot in leg during encounter

Vipin was wounded in the leg on Sunday while attempting to run away from police custody. They took Vipin to his house to get the container of inflammable liquid that was used to burn Nikki. Senior police officer Sudhir Kumar says, "He snatched a cop's pistol and opened fire. In retaliatory firing, he suffered a bullet injury in his leg."

Six-year-old son witnessed father setting mother on fire

According to the six-year-old son of the Greater Noida woman, his father killed his mother in front of him. He also details the abuse that caused her death. The youngster recalls the terrible incident. He says his mother was hit, poured with a chemical and then burned by his father and father.

Demands for justice have been made by the victim's family. According to Nikki’s mother, she was taken back home after complaining twice about violence at her in-laws' home.

She adds that during their marriage and after the birth of their kid, they had given Vipin gold, a car, and a motorcycle, but "he always wanted more.”
