Himachal Flash Flood Horror In Kangra And Kullu – Another Body Found, Toll Rises To Six

Kangra (Himachal Pradesh) June 28: Rescue teams recovered a body on Friday, identified as Nitin of Kangra, after a flash flood in Manuni Khad on Wednesday. The flood struck labourers at a small hydel project in Khanyara. So far, six bodies have been found, while two remain missing near Dharamshala and three in Kullu’s Sainj valley.
Survivor Speaks Out
A survivor from Chamba, Lovely, said there were 13 people at the camp when rain caused Manuni Khad to swell and change its course. Five ran to higher ground; others were swept away. Rescue teams are working day and night to locate the two missing near Dharamshala.
Government Starts Probe
Kangra’s deputy commissioner, Hemraj Bairwa, announced a probe led by the Dharamshala SDM. The committee will examine whether deaths were due to natural causes or negligence in warning systems and project safety.
Roads And Power Systems Hit
Recent downpours forced closure of 53 roads across the state. In Kullu alone, 23 roads are blocked, and 135 power transformers and 147 water supply schemes are disrupted, according to officials.
Rain Alert And Safety Warning
IMD has issued rain alerts till July 3, with orange warning on June 29 for Kangra and other districts. Residents are advised to avoid travel and stay alert to weather changes and follow official guidance.
