"I Had Decided To Jump": Body Of Missing DU Student Sneha Debnath Found In Yamuna Near Geeta Colony Flyover

New Delhi(Delhi)[India] July 14: Sneha Debnath’s body was recovered from Yamuna River under Geeta Colony flyover in north Delhi on Sunday evening by Delhi Police. She had gone missing six days earlier. The 19‑year‑old DU student, originally from Tripura, was last seen after contacting family on July 7. Her body was identified by relatives—bringing a sad close to a worrying search.

Sneha Debnath's Last Contact And Note Found

Sneha, a resident of Paryavaran Complex, south Delhi, studied at ARSD College. On July 7 at 5:56 am, she messaged family that she was heading to Sarai Rohilla with her friend, Pitunia. Later her phone switched off. A note in her room mentioned her wish to jump from the Signature Bridge over Yamuna. Police found no CCTV footage after that.

Search Efforts Around Signature Bridge

Delhi Police and NDRF team searched around Signature Bridge from July 9. They could not find Sneha during these efforts. The cab driver told family she reached the bridge. Despite checks of river banks and nearby areas, no trace appeared until Sunday evening near Geeta Colony.

Tripura And Delhi Police Coordination

Tripura CM Manik Saha’s office promptly directed Delhi Police to act. Then, Tripura Police joined hands with Delhi counterparts. Teams combed areas in Delhi to find her. Sadly, their efforts ended with her body being found. The coordination showed strong concern and quick response between states.

Pending Questions And Investigation

Delhi Police are investigating the circumstances of her death under Signature Bridge. They will check medical reports, autopsy findings and CCTV records. Her family seek answers on what led to her disappearance and death. As the probe continues, Delhi remembers Sneha as a young student whose tragic end still needs full explanation.
