India looks to tie the series in final Test at The Oval, but rain may spoil the first day of play
A win at the Oval would be the ideal way for India's young team to finish the tour, since they have often shown themselves to be more capable than the England squad.

New Delhi (India) July 31: The fifth and final Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy between India and England will begin on Thursday, July 31. The match will be played at The Oval in London. The Indian team forced a draw at Old Trafford with an incredible comeback. They put on a strong and remarkable display after losing two early wickets at the beginning of their second innings. They now have to win the fifth Test to avoid losing the series.
India Wants a Big Win
Indian captain Shubman Gill said, “It is going to be a big achievement for us if we are able to level the series" in the pre-game press conference before the fifth Test against England.
But thus far on the tour, captain Gill and his team achieved something truly remarkable. India has captured everyone's attention with its "never-say-die" attitude. It can be seen in all four Tests as new stars have emerged each time the team was down. England still has a 2-1 advantage going into the final Test.
The Oval's Pitch Statistics
The Oval might offer a change of pace in a series where batsman have so far dominated. The pitch had a thick layer of grass visible a day before the match. The venue's surface is known as England's best batting wicket.
In the 14 matches between India and England at the Oval, India has won twice and lost five times. The Indian team had good memories of their last tour, where they won by 157 runs.
The Oval is England's second-most successful stadium in history. They have won 45 games out of 106. England has lost only seven games at the Oval since 2000.
Big Players Missing
Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer, and Brydon Carse will not be playing for England team for the fifth test. This is due to injury. Stokes is unable to participate because of a grade-three muscle injury in his shoulder. The injury occurred during the Old Trafford Test.
India has not officially announced their starting lineup. According to reports, Jasprit Bumrah is probably out.
As it has rained overnight and it seems unlikely that we will have a full day of play today.
England Playing XI include Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope (c), Joe Root, Harry Brook, Jacob Bethell, Jamie Smith (wk), Chris Woakes, Gus Atkinson, Jamie Overton and Josh Tongue.
