IPL 2025: PBKS vs MI Match Moved to Ahmedabad Over Security

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], May 08: The IPL 2025 match between Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians, earlier scheduled in Dharamsala, has now been moved to Ahmedabad. The shift comes after the Indian Armed Forces launched Operation Sindoor. Security concerns led to this change, confirmed by Gujarat Cricket Association secretary Anil Patel. The match will now be held at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 11 at 3:30 PM. Fans had hoped for a thrilling match in the hills, but safety comes first.

Operation Sindoor Brings Change in Plans

On May 7, Indian forces carried out strikes in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. This was in answer to a tragic attack in Pahalgam that claimed the lives of 26 innocent tourists. In response, airports in cities like Dharamsala, Jammu, and Chandigarh were closed till May 10. This forced BCCI to look for a safer venue. Ahmedabad was picked for its strong security and big stadium capacity.

Teams to Play at a Neutral Ground

The original plan had Punjab Kings playing in Dharamsala. When talk began about changing the venue, Mumbai-based stadiums like DY Patil and Brabourne were considered. But that would have favoured Mumbai Indians too much. So, Ahmedabad was chosen to keep things fair for both teams. Now, both teams will face off on neutral ground, with equal pressure and equal hope.

Fans Disappointed but Understand the Reason

Many fans were excited to watch the match in Dharamsala's beautiful mountain setting. Tickets were booked, and plans were made. But most fans agree that national safety is more important. Cricket has always brought people together, and even though the match won’t be in Dharamsala, the excitement remains. Ahmedabad fans are now looking forward to cheering for their favourite players.

Tribute Before PBKS vs DC Match Stays On

While the PBKS vs MI match moved, the earlier match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals on May 8 in Dharamsala will go ahead as planned. Before that game, singer B Praak will pay tribute to the Indian Armed Forces with a live performance. His songs will remind everyone of India’s strength and culture. Even though the PBKS vs MI match has moved, the love for the game and the country stays loud and clear.
