Is There a Dark Secret Beneath Dharmasthala? Skeleton Found in Mass Burial Probe

A skeleton has been found in the Dharmasthala mass burial case by SIT at the sixth site, possibly confirming the whistleblower’s claims of secret, forced burials.

Is There a Dark Secret Beneath Dharmasthala? Skeleton Found in Mass Burial Probe

Mangaluru(Karnataka)[India], July 31: The SIT, digging its sixth site in Dharmasthala, found partial human remains, possibly confirming claims of secret burials in the town’s past. The spot, located in Belthangady taluk, might be the first major clue in a story that started with a single complaint. Unlike the five earlier sites, this one finally gave investigators something real, a skeleton that could change everything about what happened in the town between 1995 and 2014.

From Worker to Whistleblower: One Man’s Shocking Allegation

The case began after a former sanitation worker filed an FIR on July 4. The worker claimed that he was forced to bury many bodies during his time in Dharmasthala. His claim shocked many. He even said the dead included people who were murdered or sexually assaulted. One of them, he added, was his own relative. Fear and guilt drove him to flee the town years ago. His return, now with disturbing memories, started the SIT investigation.

Police Dig Deeper as Skeleton Raises New Questions

This recent discovery is the SIT’s first major step forward after five failed attempts at other spots. The complainant had pointed out each location, but it took the sixth try to find something solid. A skeleton, lying hidden for years, might be the proof everyone was waiting for. The team, now with a stronger reason to believe the man’s story, continues its work, determined to uncover the full truth behind the graves.

What Else Has Been Found So Far? Cards, Sites and Confusion

Besides the skeleton, the SIT also found items like a PAN card and two ATM cards at another site. These personal belongings might help link victims to missing person cases. But the investigation isn’t simple. An officer admitted that the timeline in the complainant’s story isn’t clear. Some facts don’t match. The SIT now plans to go slow, checking every claim before digging more. In total, 13 sites are being considered, with one said to have the most burials.

Families, Locals and the Law: What Comes Next for Dharmasthala

The news has deeply affected locals and families like Sujata Bhat’s, whose daughter, a medical student, has been missing. Her lawyer, N Manjunath, said this case gives them hope. But fear also grows with each new site dug. The SIT has started recording the exhumation process to keep records clear and official. As one skeleton speaks from the ground, the town waits, quiet, tense, and desperate, for justice and answers buried for too long.
