Landslide in Ladakh Kills Two Army Soldiers; Four Dead as Rainstorms Hit Jammu, Kashmir & Ladakh Regions
In Ladakh, a boulder falls on a military convoy vehicle. The incident results in the death of two Army soldiers.

New Delhi (India) July 31: On Wednesday, July 30, 2025, a heavy rainfall spell strikes Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. It results in two different episodes of flash floods and stone shootings. It results in the death of two soldiers and two teachers. One of the soldiers was a Lieutenant Colonel. Meanwhile, rain caused the traditional Amarnath yatra to be halted for the day.
Military Convoy Tragedy
According to a statement from the Army, the event took place at approximately 11:30 am on July 30, 2025. It happens when a big boulder crashes down a mountain and collides with one of the convoy's cars.
Lieutenant Colonel Bhanu Pratap Singh and Lance Dafadar Daljeet Singh are the two soldiers who lost their lives in the tragedy.
Both the soldiers passed away from their wounds from the accident. They were serving with a unit in the area. Daljeet Singh was a Gurdaspur native. Lt Col Bhanu Pratap Singh was from Pathankot.
Indian Army Pays Tribute
The Indian Army's Fire and Fury Corps posted, “A boulder from a cliff fell on one of the vehicles of a military convoy in Ladakh, around 1130h on 30 Jul 2025. Recovery action is in progress” on social media platform X.
The Corps also pays tribute to the deceased soldiers. They posted, “GOC, Fire and Fury Corps and all ranks salute Lieutenant Colonel Bhanu Pratap Singh and Lance Dafadar Daljeet Singh, who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty in Ladakh on 30 Jul 2025, and offer deep condolences to the bereaved families in this hour of grief.”
Officers Among the Injured
According to sources, the incident also caused harm to three other army officers. Captain Gaurav, Major Amit Dixit, and Major Mayank Shubham are the soldiers who are injured. The injured have been taken to the Leh Army Hospital.
According to officials, recovery efforts are presently taking place at the location. The Army has not disclosed any other details regarding the movement of the convoy or the other individuals involved.
According to sources, an Army convoy was traveling from Durbuk to Chongtash in Ladakh when the vehicle was struck by the boulder.
Floods due to Heavy Rainfall
A motorcycle was washed away in the area of Jalebi Morh Nallah in J&K's Batote. It happens due to flash floods caused by heavy rains over the previous twelve hours. According to officials, the floods claimed the lives of two teachers, Jagdev Singh Thakur and Sanjay Sharma. They lived in Ghordi Block in the Udhampur district.
On Wednesday, the Amarnath yatra was also stopped from the Pahalgam and Baltal base camps due to rain.
