Massive fire in Uttar Pradesh’s Badaun district burns more than 200 houses; one person hospitalised
A huge fire started early on Thursday morning at a factory in the Badaun district of Uttar Pradesh's Ujhani town.

New Delhi (India) May 22: More than 200 homes in Tappa Jamni town in the Budaun district of Uttar Pradesh have been destroyed by a fire that started as a result of a transformer short circuit set on by the storm.
Local sources said that on Wednesday night, as the people ran to save themselves from the fire that had already killed many cattle, one person suffered burns. The injured man has been taken to the Ujhani community health center.
District Magistrate Avnish Kumar Rai said, “The fire was triggered during a storm on Wednesday night (May 21, 2025). While no one died in the incident, one person sustained burn injuries.There are reports that many cattle died in the fire. We will assess the losses and provide compensation to the affected people. People whose houses have been damaged will be provided help.”
The officials present at the location said,“By the time the firemen and police reached the spot to douse the flames, around 200 houses in the village were reduced to ashes.”
In another incident that happened on Thursday,May 22 also reported that massive fire flames were visible coming from a plant in the town of Ujhani.
Firefighters are present on the scene and efforts are being made to put out the fire. The factory fire was caused by a boiler that caused an electrical spark within the building.
Ram Raghu Yadav, Chief Fire Officer of Badaun said, "The fire has been controlled... Yesterday, due to strong winds, the boiler fell and due to the spark, the factory caught fire.”
