Emirates Suspends All Flights Until Further Notice
Emirates said they have suspended all of their flights to and from Dubai "until further notice". This was lifted shortly after.
Dubai airport partially resumed service hours after the incident. “We have partially resumed operations from today, 7 March, with some flights operating out of DXB and DWC,” it said of Dubai’s main airport and Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International Airport.
Social Media Shows Drone Hit at Dubai Airport
Visuals inundating social media depicted a drone hitting the airport, and a giant ball of smoke engulfing the area. After an alert was sounded, passengers waiting for flights inside the airport ran down into train tunnels at the airfield.
Earlier, Dubai International Airport said it had suspended operations on Saturday after the incident.
“For the safety of passengers, airport staff, and airline crew, operations at Dubai International (DXB) have been temporarily suspended. All procedures are being managed in line with established safety protocols," Dubai Media Office said.
Iran President Apologizes, Pledges Halt to Gulf Attacks
Hours after the latest explosions rocked Dubai, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on a televised address noted that Tehran will cease strikes on the Gulf countries near the Iranian line until attacks on Iran come from the Gulf nations.
He apologised to the Gulf states and said that Iran did not plan to invade the other countries but that it saw the attacks by the US and Israeli forces getting more intense.
War Enters Day 8: Palm Jumeirah Hit Earlier
Explosions erupted in Dubai as the multi-front war in the Middle East was eight days in. Four workers were hurt, and a concourse was damaged, at Dubai airport last Saturday, as war broke out over US-Israeli strikes against Iran.
Iranian attacks have also swept across the upscale Palm Jumeirah development and the Burj Al Arab luxury hotel, and drone debris ignited a fire at the US consulate in Dubai on Tuesday.
