Operation Sindoor: China ‘regrets’ military action by India and says it is concerned about peace
Amid rising tensions after Indian military strikes on terror bases in Pakistan, China asked India and Pakistan to proceed with extra care.

New Delhi(India) May 7: Concerned about the rising tensions after Indian military started "Operation Sindoor" against terror places across the border early on Wednesday morning, China requested both India and Pakistan to exercise patience.
Beijing expressed its "regret over India's military action this morning" and said it was "concerned about the current developments”
“China expresses regret over India’s military actions this morning and is concerned about the current developments. China opposes all forms of terrorism. We call on both India and Pakistan to prioritize peace and stability, remain calm and restrained, and avoid taking actions that further complicate the situation.” said a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Beijing.
Guo Jiakun, an official for China's foreign ministry, first reacted to the Pahalgam attack by saying, “We strongly condemn the attack. China firmly opposes all forms of terrorism…. We mourn for the lives lost and express sincere sympathies to the bereaved families and the injured.”
China's foreign minister and Communist Party member Wang Yi had a conversation with his Pakistani colleague Ishaq Dar on April 27. Wang called for a "swift and fair investigation" into the Pahalgam incident during the discussion. "China fully understands Pakistan's legitimate security concerns and supports Pakistan in safeguarding its sovereignty and security interests as an all-weather strategic cooperative partner and an ironclad friend," he added.
The term "iron brothers" refers to the tight and strategic partnership between China and Pakistan. Jiang Zaidong, the Chinese ambassador to Pakistan, met with Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari earlier this week to discuss the growing tensions between India and Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack.
The operation came after the terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians, mostly tourists. Indian authorities have blamed Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) members placed in Pakistan for the attack. The Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Air Force used accurate strike weapons in a joint effort to target multiple locations throughout Pakistan and the PoK.
