Prime Minister Narendra Modi opened the World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) in Mumbai.

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India] May 1: On Thursday, May 1, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi opened the World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) in Mumbai. PM Modi spoke to a sizable crowd that included other content producers and celebrities from India's film industry. He spoke in-depth about Indian-produced content and the potential of content producers to propel the nation's economy forward.
In the near future, PM Modi has pledged to implement other programs like the WAVES awards.The summit will include 32 masterclasses, 39 breakout sessions, and 42 plenary sessions covering a variety of topics, such as digital media, AVGC-XR, infotainment, broadcasting, and movies.
The WAVES meeting, according to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will provide the framework for a global ecosystem that would house talent and innovation from across the world.
"Today, artists, innovators, investors, and policy makers from more than 100 nations have gathered under one roof," Prime Minister Modi said in a keynote speech to a crowded auditorium of international guests. We are establishing the groundwork for a worldwide talent and innovation ecosystem. WAVES is a worldwide platform that is the property of all artists and creators.
The WAVES 2025 Summit is organised by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) in the collaboration with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
There will be elusive attendees and celebrities from many businesses at the Summit. The whole 4-day WAVES 2025 summit is expected to draw a star-studded guest list, including directors and super-stars.
From Bollywood heavyweights like Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar, Karan Johar, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Ekta Kapoor to icons like Rajinikanth, Chiranjeevi, Mohanlal, and Hema Malini. Anil Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Allu Arjun, Bhushan Kumar, Namit Malhotra, SS Rajamouli, AR Rahman, Shahid Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Atlee, Riteish Deshmukh, Zoya Akhtar, and Vijay Deverakonda are also anticipated. The list also includes prominent figures in the digital and entertainment industries, such as Ted Sarandos (Co-CEO, Netflix), Neal Mohan (CEO, YouTube), and Adam Mosseri (Head, Instagram).

WAVES Summit aims to position India as a global hub for media and entertainment. It brings together professionals from broadcasting, film, animation, gaming, music, and digital media.
