Prince Khaled bin Talal bin Abdulaziz wrote, “O reassured soul, return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing [to Him], and enter My Paradise… With hearts believing in Allah’s will and decree, and with deep sorrow, we mourn our beloved son” on social media platform X.
Tragic Accident Ends a Young Life
When Prince Alwaleed bin Khaled was studying in London, he was involved in a car accident. It resulted in severe brain injury, internal bleeding and a brain haemorrhage. He was put on a ventilator after being brought to King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh.
GIC Offer Condolences
The Global Imams Council said, “The Global Imams Council extends its sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and the esteemed Royal Family, on the passing of Prince Alwaleed bin Khaled bin Talal Al Saud, who passed away after a long struggle that lasted nearly twenty years following a tragic accident.”
They also added, “As we share the grief of the Royal Family on this solemn occasion, we recall with deep respect the patience and steadfastness demonstrated by his father, Prince Khaled bin Talal, and his family as a testament to their profound faith in the will and decree of Allah. We pray that the Almighty Allah envelops the late Prince with His vast mercy, grants him a place in eternal Paradise, and bestows patience and solace upon his family and loved ones.”
The prince never regained consciousness, despite his family bringing in international medical experts to assess his condition. Despite occasional small movements that gave his family confidence, his condition stayed the same for 20 years.
Funeral Arrangements
The funeral prayers are set for Sunday, July 20. The prayer for men will be held at the Imam Turki bin Abdullah Mosque in Riyadh after the Asr prayer. The women's ceremony will take place at King Faisal Specialist Hospital.
Prince Alwaleed was the interest of the town on several occasions. He did not have a social media account or share algorithm-supported reels every day.
A month ago, a video went viral saying the prince was getting up. It turned out to be false. Prince Alwaleed was not the guy in the video. It was Yazeed Mohamed Al-Rajhi, a Saudi businessman and motorsport figure. His recovery has been the subject of numerous rumours, the majority of which were untrue.
