Pune-Bound SpiceJet Flight Window Pops Mid-Air? Passengers Panic As Frame Falls Off
Window Frame Dislodges On Goa To Pune SpiceJet Flight, Raises Safety Concerns

Goa [India] July 02: A regular SpiceJet flight from Goa to Pune turned stressful mid-air when a passenger noticed that a window frame had suddenly come off. The incident happened just thirty minutes after takeoff, leaving a woman with a baby scared. While the pressurisation was not affected, the entire cabin felt uneasy. Other passengers sat still, staring at the gap where the frame used to be. The flight crew quickly moved the woman and child to another seat and assured everyone that the main protective layers were intact.
Airline’s Assurance After Incident
SpiceJet later shared a statement calling the part that fell off a "cosmetic window frame." The airline explained that this component is only meant to provide shade and has nothing to do with the actual aircraft safety. It also clarified that the flight’s pressure system was not disturbed. The Q400 aircraft has three layers of window panes, including one strong outer pane. The airline said the dislodged piece was fixed after landing as per regular repair steps, and there was no threat to passengers during the flight.
Real Panic Among Passengers
One passenger, Mandar Sawant, shared his experience and said that while no air entered the cabin, the view of the popped-out window frightened people. The woman sitting near the frame panicked and held her baby tightly. Passengers began questioning if the flight should have continued. A video of the loose window was also uploaded on social media. Many were shocked to know the same aircraft was scheduled to fly to Jaipur next. This raised bigger questions about how safe these aircraft truly are.
Safety Check Demands Grow
Soon after the incident, the video went viral on social media. People started long conversations in comment section. People began tagging the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on social media. They started asking if safety checks were done before the plane took off. While SpiceJet insisted everything was fine, public concern kept growing. A few users even recalled recent flight incidents involving other airlines and asked for strict rules. Aviation experts believe that such cosmetic parts should not be ignored either, especially when passengers’ confidence in air travel is at stake.
Pattern Of Worrying Events
This is not the first time aircraft safety has come under question in India. Just last month, another airline had to return mid-flight due to cabin smell. In this case, the frame may not have posed direct risk, but repeated small lapses create bigger fear. Regular flyers now wonder what checks are really done before every flight. The airlines, on the other hand, continue to say such rare incidents are harmless. Still, videos like this only add to the trust issues in today’s air travel experience.
