He also adds, “Our teams are closely monitoring rainfall, dam discharges, and river levels. Evacuation alerts are being given through loudspeakers, and citizens are being shifted to safety in time. Ensuring the safety, health, and dignity of affected families is our top priority.”

Singh also speaks with displaced people at a number of relief shelters. It includes the ones at the Ahilyadevi Holkar School in Sangvi and the Late Navnath Dagdu Sable School in Bhatnagar. In addition, he examines the growing Pawana River water levels and the Mulanagar area.

Citizens Urged to Stay Alert

Singh states that with the help of our engineering, fire, health, and solid waste departments, the disaster management cells are operating at full capacity in every zonal office. For quick evacuations, buses, ambulances, and boats are being used.

Even though the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) offers temporary housing in a neighboring school, many locals decide not to leave their homes. This is during conditions similar to flooding brought on by heavy rains. The civil authorities regularly advise the residents to move to safer regions.
