Punjab governor Gulab Chand Kataria: People's Support Needed to End Drugs in Punjab
The day began with a prayer at the Golden Temple. Governor Kataria offered his shoulder to carry the sacred Palki Sahib and performed seva.

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India] April 9: On April 3, Punjab governor Gulab Chand Kataria began a peaceful padyatra against drugs from the Kartarpur Sahib corridor. This place is not just historical, but also spiritual. The message was clear—Punjab, the land of gurus and warriors, must fight a new kind of war, not with weapons but with unity. The padyatra aimed to connect hearts and raise awareness about drug problems spreading across towns and villages.
Jallianwala Bagh Witnesses Another Movement
The padyatra ended at Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar, a place that carries deep emotions for every Indian. It was here that Governor Kataria asked the public to stand together against drugs. He reminded everyone that Punjab has always led the way in sacrifice and courage. So, it is the duty of every citizen to make their village and city drug-free by supporting such honest campaigns.
Support from All Sides is the Need of the Hour
The governor requested leaders from all political parties to unite for this cause. In front of the public, he said that no single government can remove this problem. It needs people’s help. When leaders, families, schools, and youth come together, only then can we see true change. Committees in border villages are already helping, and they should be rewarded for their good work.
Walks Alone Won’t Work Without Actions
During the padyatra, BJP Punjab chief Sunil Jakhar shared his views. He compared the governor’s effort with the AAP government’s actions. He felt that the governor’s walk showed real care, while the state government's efforts were more about getting attention. He also raised questions about a female police officer arrested in a drug case and asked for answers from the Chief Minister.
Faith, Action and Unity Needed Together
The day began with a prayer at the Golden Temple. Governor Kataria offered his shoulder to carry the sacred Palki Sahib and performed seva. Rajya Sabha MP Vikramjit Singh Sahney and other leaders also joined. These gestures showed that true change needs both prayer and action. When leaders and public walk hand-in-hand, then Punjab can truly become free from the pain of drugs.
