A father and his two children were killed after a big fire broke out on the top floor of a residential building in Delhi's Dwarka Sector 13.

New Delhi (India) June 10: A fire at a unit in a residential society in Dwarka Sector 13 in Delhi killed three family members on Tuesday morning. According to initial reports, the fire began around 9.58 a.m. and went through the eighth and ninth floors of the Shabad Apartment complex. Five fire trucks were sent out to the scene to help put out the fire.

The cause of the fire could not be determined immediately. Residents in the region were requested to remain away from the scene so that rescue workers could function effectively.

According to the authorities, two 10-year-old kids, a boy and a girl attempted to get out of the fire by jumping from a balcony. They were declared dead upon arrival at the Akash Hospital. Their father, Yash Yadav who is believed to have been involved in the flex board business, too jumped in a desperate attempt to rescue himself, was declared dead at IGI Hospital. Yadav's wife and niece were also brought to Akash Hospital after suffering injuries.

According to a fire official, the blaze was reported at 10:01 a.m., causing eight fire tenders to respond. Firefighting operations were currently underway, and authorities were working to bring the situation under control. According to officials, police, fire department and an ambulance are present at the scene.

An official said, "The fire could be seen from a long distance. Black smoke was billowing out of the upper floors, and flames were leaping out of the seventh-floor flat” regarding the fire.

 The officials have stated that further information will be given later.

Social media videos showed people recording the fire on their phones. In one of the videos, a female voice is heard saying, "God help them!"

Residents are concerned about their things as the fire is spreading to other floors. People living in surrounding buildings are also concerned that the flames would reach their homes.
