Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [India], June 05: One of central India’s most powerful Maoist leaders, Sudhakar, was killed during a joint operation in Bijapur’s dense forests. Police forces recovered an AK-47, explosives, and other items from the spot. Once a part of peace talks with the Andhra Pradesh government two decades ago, Sudhakar’s path turned more intense in later years. His death is being seen as a heavy blow to the Maoist organisation.
From Eluru to the Red Corridor: Sudhakar’s Journey
Born in Andhra Pradesh’s Eluru district, Sudhakar’s early life was shaped in Chintalapudi. He studied at CR Reddy College and joined an Ayurvedic course in Vijayawada but left it midway. Drawn to the Maoist ideology, he soon became an active part of their underground world. By 2001, he was already leading the Andhra-Odisha border unit. His rise through the ranks was swift and strategic.
RePOS and the Ideological Core of the Movement
Sudhakar wasn’t just a commander—he was an ideological teacher. He led the Revolutionary Political School (RePOS), where new recruits were trained in the CPI (Maoist)'s ideas. He played a major role in writing and spreading internal messages of the movement. His wife, Smruthi, also remains active and is believed to be working in MoPOS, a unit that manages political teachings and training.
17 Years of Deep Roots in Bastar’s Abujhmad Region
For nearly two decades, Sudhakar stayed in Abujhmad, the toughest zone in Bastar. This area, known for its dense forest cover and strong rebel presence, gave him the secrecy and power he needed. He was involved in several criminal cases across Andhra and Chhattisgarh, including dacoity, murder, and unlawful gatherings. His planning and ideas kept the core of the movement strong for many years.
After Basavaraju, Another Big Jolt to Maoist Cadre
