Tahawwur Rana makes shocking revelations; claims to be Pakistani Army’s trusted man

New Delhi (India) July 7: One of the main conspirators of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, Tahawwur Hussain Rana, has made shocking revelations. He claimed to have been in the city when the terrible incident happened and to have been a reliable Pakistani army agent.

During interrogation by the Mumbai Crime Branch, Rana, who is currently being held by the NIA at Delhi's Tihar Jail, admitted to having multiple training sessions with Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba with his friend David Coleman Headley. Rana also stated that the LeT primarily functioned as a spying network.

Rana has admitted knowing Major Iqbal, Abdul Rehman Pasha, and Sajid Mir, three Pakistani officers who are said to have planned the attacks. It has been revealed that he actively collaborated with the Pakistani spy organisation ISI and Lashkar-e-Taiba.

Sources claim that Rana came up with the concept to build an immigration centre for his company in Mumbai and that all financial transactions there were done as part of his business costs.

According to authorities, Rana claimed to have visited locations such as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and thought that Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) was involved in the 26/11 strikes.

Rana has disclosed that he travelled to India in November 2008 and spent the 20th and 21st days before the terror strikes in a hotel in Powai, Mumbai. He departed for Beijing via Dubai shortly before the attack.

According to the NIA chargesheet in the 26/11 case, Headley flew to a number of Indian cities under the pretence of being a representative of the Immigrant Law Centre company, including Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, Pushkar, Goa, and Pune.

According to a 405-page supplementary charge sheet submitted by the criminal branch in 2023, Rana helped Headley in collecting information regarding congested areas such as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus.

According to authorities, the 64-year-old further said that during the Khaleej War, the Pakistani army had transferred him to Saudi Arabia.

The Mumbai Police are getting ready to detain Rana and arrest him as soon as possible after questioning him.

Earlier this year, Rana, a Canadian of Pakistani origin, was extradited to India. The US Supreme Court dismissed his review appeal on April 4 and ordered his extradition.

After being transported to India in May, Rana was legally placed under judicial custody by the NIA. He is being questioned over a number of crimes, such as forgery, conspiracy, murder, and terrorist commission. Rana's judicial detention was extended by a Delhi court last month till July 9.

Ten Pakistani terrorists carried out the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, which killed 166 people during a siege that lasted almost 60 hours and targeted well-known sites like the Taj and Oberoi hotels, the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, and the Jewish centre Nariman House.
