Udhampur Terror Attack: Para Commando Killed, Two Injured

Udhampur(Jammu and Kashmir) [India] April 24: In the forests of Dudu-Basantgarh in Udhampur, sounds of bullets broke the silence on Thursday. The Indian Army and police launched a search operation after getting news that terrorists were hiding there. What started as a regular patrol turned into a deadly gunfight, leaving one para commando martyred and two others injured. These moments show how quickly peace can turn into chaos in sensitive areas like Jammu and Kashmir.

Remembering Hav Jhantu Ali Shaikh

The soldier who gave his life for the country was Havaldar Jhantu Ali Shaikh. He was part of the 6 PARA Special Forces, an elite unit trained for dangerous missions. He fought bravely during the encounter and was hit early in the fight. Despite quick medical help, he could not survive. His team said he was known for his strong spirit and leadership, and his sacrifice will always be remembered.

Why This Operation Was Important

Just two days before, a terrorist attack in Pahalgam had killed 26 people, including civilians and tourists. Security forces were on high alert, and every tip-off was taken seriously. When information came about terrorists in Udhampur, the Army and police moved quickly. They had one goal: stop more violence before it could happen again. This shows how security forces act fast to keep others safe, even at great risk to themselves.

More Terrorists May Be Involved

Officials believe that the terrorists in Udhampur may be part of a bigger group that crossed the border earlier. These groups often stay hidden in forests and wait for chances to attack. In March, some of these men were seen near Dolka forest in another part of Jammu. So, this recent fight is not just one incident—it may be part of a larger plan. This is why ongoing search operations are so important in these areas.

The Fight is Not Over Yet

The operation in Basantgarh was still going on when reports last came. More soldiers were sent to the area to help. Meanwhile, other search operations started in Poonch district's forests as well. Security forces want to make sure no terrorist escapes. In Jammu and Kashmir, history has shown how fast things can change. What looks calm today may be dangerous tomorrow, and our jawans are always ready to face that challenge.
