According to a Canadian woman, she regrets spending CAD $50,000 on a "love psychic" who claimed to be able to make her crush fall in love. According to CTV News, Joanne Whalen spent over ₹30 lakh with the intention of turning her unrequited love into a genuine romance.
Unfortunately for Whalen, the describes herself psychic who had offered to assist her did not follow through on her word. She is now asking for a return after being defrauded of her money.
Here's what took place
After divorcing her husband, Whitby the owner Joanne Whalen started going to the psychic in 2013, according to CTV News. She described seeing psychics as a "fun and entertaining" experience.
She eventually revealed her desire to begin a new romance to this psychic, Julia.
"Yes, there is a man at the gym that I like," she remarked after discovering a man during the reading. "I can get this man closer to you for $550," she told me," Whalen recalled.
The Canadian woman gave the money to him. The psychic continued to demand more and more money from her over the following few months, saying that she needed it in order to make the love connection.
“I transferred $12,000 to $15,000 but she wanted cash, so I was dropping off lots and lots of cash at her house,” Whalen claimed.
The so-called psychic wanted more than just money. In addition, she requested that Whalen buy gold bars, which she said would be used in rituals to make love blossom.
Julia received $50,232 from Whalen over the course of a year. However, her crush never developed into a romantic relationship.
Seeking a reimbursement
Now, the Whitby woman demands a complete refund.
She told CTV News, "I was so scared that I was so trapped in it mentally." "If everything is going so well, why isn't anything happening?" I asked her. Even though I'm paying you thousands and thousands of dollars, I'm not receiving anything in return.
However, Julia the psychic insists that Whalen's failure to follow her directions is the reason why love did not develop.
"The issue is that she didn't finish the work. I gave her everything she requested. I provided her with the various services she requested," Julia remarked.
Whalen doesn't believe this. She says that she now realises that it was all a trap.
Whalen told CTV News Toronto, "I would advise against beginning anything with a psychic because once you do, it's a trap."
