Apple appoints Indian Sabih Khan as the new COO; to replace Jeff Williams

New Delhi (India) July 9: An experienced Apple veteran who was born in Moradabad, India, Sabih Khan is the company's Chief Operating Officer (COO). Khan will replace Jeff Williams later this month. Khan has worked for Apple for thirty years. The business claims that he has played a key role in the company's growth, particularly in the development and administration of its international supply chain.

Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple, praised Khan as "a brilliant strategist" and one of the main designers of the company's worldwide supply chain.

He said, “Sabih is a brilliant strategist who has been one of the central architects of Apple’s supply chain.”

He added, “While overseeing Apple’s supply chain, he has helped pioneer new technologies in advanced manufacturing, overseen the expansion of Apple’s manufacturing footprint in the United States, and helped ensure that Apple can be nimble in response to global challenges. He has advanced our ambitious efforts in environmental sustainability, helping reduce Apple’s carbon footprint by more than 60 percent. Above all, Sabih leads with his heart and his values, and I know he will make an exceptional chief operating officer.”

Khan has been with Apple for a long time and is currently the Senior Vice President of Operations. He has been instrumental in the company's environmental initiatives, supply chain resilience, and product delivery. As one of the top Indian-origin leaders in global technology, his appointment is not just a business milestone but also a source of pride for the Indian diaspora.

Khan was appointed senior vice president of operations on June 27, 2019, and he works under Jeff Williams' supervision. Khan's operations department at Apple has been in charge of forming alliances with suppliers that practise green manufacturing and revising suppliers' processes in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Khan has played a significant role in advancing Apple's environmental initiatives in addition to logistics and planning. Apple claims that under his direction, the business has pushed for green production and partnered with suppliers to drastically cut its carbon footprint—by more than 60%. He is also in charge of Apple's supplier responsibility initiatives, which aim to enhance working conditions and give employees in Apple's manufacturing plants worldwide education and training.

As COO, Khan will be in charge of the company's extensive operations division, which covers everything from logistics and manufacturing to supplier ethics and sustainability. His staff is important for ensuring that Apple products—from wearables to Macs and iPhones—are manufactured and delivered with care and consistency, fulfilling the company's exacting standards and global customer expectations.

Khan's educational history displays the combination of economic knowledge and technical proficiency needed for such a challenging position. He has a master's degree in mechanical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) and two bachelor's degrees in economics and mechanical engineering from Tufts University.
