New Delhi (India) December 20: Former President Bill Clinton was a major focus of the first set of files from the Justice Department, which were released on Friday (December 19, 2025). These files are the result of a department- level investigation into convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, and the White House attempted to change the focus of the eagerly awaited documents from President Donald Trump to Clinton.

Clinton Dominates Epstein Document Release

Clinton has said that he was unaware of Epstein's crimes. There is no record of any charges being brought against him. In the statement, Clinton's spokesman, Angel Urea said that the Epstein investigation is not about Bill Clinton.

He said, “There are two types of people here. The first group knew nothing and cut Epstein off before his crimes came to light. The second group continued relationships after that. We’re in the first. No amount of stalling by people in the second group will change that.”

Clinton has never been accused of any wrong in connection with Epstein, and the mere mention of a person's name or pictures in the files of the investigation does not imply that they have been involved.

Intimate Photos Spark Questions

Among the thousands of documents released to the public, there were a number of pictures of Clinton. Some of them depicted him on a private plane, and one included a woman whose face was redacted from the photo sitting on his lap. In another photo, he is seen in a pool with Epstein's longtime confidant, British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell, and a person whose face was also redacted.

One photo shows Clinton with a woman whose face was redacted in a hot tub. The files do not provide a date for the photos and there is very little context given.

Trump's Name Fades from Spotlight

The omission of references to President Donald Trump has been noticed, considering that he was one of the people whose social interactions with Epstein in the 1990s and early 2000s were documented. The newly unsealed files did not have any pictures, and there was very little mention of Trump. His name is referred to in a contact book that is among the files, however, the ownership of the book is still a matter of speculation.

In comparison, Trump's name has been linked in disclosures related to Epstein that have been made over the years, such as the logs of Epstein's private jet that were part of the very first batch of Justice Department documents released in February.

Other Celebs Surface, Pressure Mounts from Trump Law

Moreover, the initial releases featured pictures of several well known public figures, such as billionaire Bill Gates, director Woody Allen, philosopher Noam Chomsky, Google co-founder Sergey Brin and Steve Bannon. The photos were released by the Democratic members of the House Oversight Committee, who got tens of thousands of pictures from Jeffrey Epstein's estate.

The document release was in response to the pressure Republicans had been putting on Congress. On November 19, Trump signed a law that obliged the Justice Department to disclose most of the Epstein, related files and correspondences within 30 days. It also included records connected to the investigation into Epstein's death in federal custody.
