Farooq Abdullah Hospitalized with Abdominal Infection, Condition Improving and Likely to Be Discharged Soon
Farooq Abdullah, the president of the National Conference, was admitted to the hospital on Saturday. It is due to an infection in his abdomen.

New Delhi (India) October 5: According to party leaders, Farooq Abdullah, the 87-year-old president of the National Conference, has been admitted to the hospital. This is after showing signs of illness in recent days.
NC Chief’s Health Update and Expected Discharge
According to the leaders, the former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir was treated at a private hospital after getting an infection in his belly on Tuesday. In December 2014, the former Chief Minister received a kidney transplant. Farooq has served as Jammu and Kashmir's chief minister two times.
The 87-year-old is the father of Omar Abdullah. He is the current chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir. The National Conference party officials claim that the senior leader's health has improved and that he will soon leave the hospital.
A party official said, "He (Abdullah) was not keeping well for the past few days, but his condition is getting better now. He is likely to be discharged later today or tomorrow."
Praise for Omar Abdullah
Despite his recent decline in health, Farooq has continued to be involved in politics. He recently praised the government of his son Omar Abdullah. This was for his attempts to bring back tourism in Jammu and Kashmir in the wake of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam. It killed 26 people, largely tourists. It also sparked a four-day war between India and Pakistan.
He said, "The Omar Abdullah-led administration responded swiftly and effectively to restore tourist confidence, thereby reaffirming J&K's reputation as a safe and welcoming destination. These efforts laid a strong foundation for sustainable and long-term tourism growth".
Tourism as Social Fabric and Sustainable Growth
According to him, the global celebration of tourism is a time for awareness for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Tourism here is not just a business but also an important part of our social fabric. It is also a source of income for thousands of people.
The NC head also emphasized the value of environmentally friendly and culturally sensitive sustainable tourism strategies.
He said, "Let this World Tourism Day be a reminder of our shared duty to build a peaceful, progressive, and welcoming Jammu and Kashmir, where every visitor feels valued, and every citizen benefits from tourism-led growth."
Appeal for Peaceful Dialogue on Ladakh Unrest
The Senior Abdullah also urged the Center to engage in dialogue with the people of Ladakh. It is after the recent unrest in Leh.
He said, "I want to tell the government that it (Ladakh) is a border state. China is lurking, they have occupied land. It is time to resolve it quickly. The government should hold talks and resolve it".
The previous chief minister denied that Sonam Wangchuk, a climate activist, was to blame for the violence in Ladakh. He said, "He (Wangchuk) has never left the Gandhian way. The youth have sidelined him today. He is not responsible for it. When they (the BJP) lost elections, they imposed the safety law and put people in jail. Now they are using CBI. The more they use force to suppress, the bigger the danger. I want to tell the government of India not to use force and instead hold dialogue".
