FIR Details Horror of Kolkata Law Student’s Gangrape, ‘I Was Treated Like a Dead Body’
A first-year student speaks out on terrifying events inside South Calcutta Law College

Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], June 28: A first-year law student went to South Calcutta Law College for some work and was asked to stay back by three men. She recalled the main accused asking others to “step outside and lock the door.” What followed was a nightmare of fear and helplessness inside what should have been a safe academic space.
Cruel Proposal Turns Coercive
The FIR says one accused professed love and even proposed marriage before locking the student near the washroom. In a split second, he allegedly tried forceful sex. She dropped her bag, pleading and touching his feet, asking him to stop. He ignored her words as her fear turned real and dangerous.
Brutal Assault And Blackmail
She told police the other two men stood guard, silent witnesses to the violence. He threatened her boyfriend and parents, and even used a hockey stick. Worst of all, he recorded her naked and used it for blackmail: “Come when I call, or I’ll show everyone.” Her voice shook as she spoke this in the FIR.
Medical Proof And Arrests
After the horrific night, the student underwent medical checks that confirmed bite marks, nail scratches, and forceful penetration. Police arrested the main accused, Monojit Mishra (31), plus students Zaib Ahmed (19) and Pramit Mukherjee (20). All were sent to custody till July 1. The weapons and mobiles were seized for forensic analysis.
Political Links And Campus Safety Debate
Police noted Mishra was linked to the ruling party’s youth wing at college. His lawyer claims he is being framed over political rivalry. This case sparked a political outcry: BJP criticised TMC for campus safety lapses, while TMC condemned the assault and denied involvement. Students continue to demand stronger measures for women’s safety on campus.
