Woman Drives On Railway Track Near Hyderabad: What Made Vomika Risk It All?

Telangana (India) June 28: Early morning at 7:04 am, a car was spotted driving on the railway track near Nagulapally station. The vehicle belonged to Vomika Soni, a 34-year-old woman from Lucknow, who is currently staying at a private hotel in Goulidoddi, Gachibowli. She allegedly intended to end her life by driving into an oncoming train, police officials confirmed.

Unusual Behaviour Before The Act

Before the incident, Vomika visited Narsingi Police Station around 4 am. There, she handed over her phone, handbag, and even her pet Labrador dog. These actions confused the staff, but no one expected what followed just three hours later—a car on the railway track and a life in danger.

Quick Action Saved A Life

The gateman on duty near LC Gate No. 22 at Kondakall quickly noticed the car on the track. He immediately alerted the railway control room and nearby station masters. Their prompt call helped form a rescue chain. Trains were halted and personnel were deployed to avoid disaster and reach the car.

Long Drive On The Wrong Path

Shockingly, Vomika kept driving on the railway line for nearly 7 kilometres. The Government Railway Police (GRP), Railway Protection Force (RPF), and local police coordinated together. Ultimately, they intercepted the vehicle just in time. Their combined efforts helped bring her out safely from what could have been a fatal route.

Medical Care And Support Begin

After the rescue, Vomika was rushed to the Chevella Government Hospital for primary treatment. From there, she was referred to Osmania Hospital in Hyderabad. Later, mental health professionals decided to shift her to Yerragadda Mental Hospital for proper psychiatric care and evaluation. Her parents have been informed.

Legal Case Registered By Police

Police have registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 153 of the Indian Railway Act. These charges are related to endangering safety and causing disruption in train movement. While legal steps are in motion, officials have also prioritised her mental health condition for immediate care.

Public Response And Reactions

The public is both stunned and saddened by the incident. Many are discussing the growing stress and silent battles faced by people around us. Social media is filled with reactions about mental health and the importance of early support. The railway staff have been praised for their fast response.

Nagulapally Incident Sparks Mental Health Talk

This case has put attention on the need for better mental health awareness, especially among people who may appear fine outwardly. Hyderabad has seen similar cases in the past, but Vomika's actions, right from her visit to the police station, show signs that were missed. Experts are urging timely check-ins with those who might be struggling.
