Former Union Minister R.K. Singh Quits BJP After Suspension, Cites ‘Unspecific Charges’ and Questions Party Discipline
Former federal minister RK Singh announced his resignation from the BJP on Saturday in response to a show-cause notice and his suspension from the party. Singh claimed he was unable to reply to the letter since the charges were "not specified."
New Delhi (India) November 15: On Saturday, November 15, 2025, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Bihar unit suspended former Union Minister R.K. Singh and two other party leaders for engaging in anti-party activities. The party requested that they respond within a week. Mr. Singh left the party shortly after.
Singh Defends Remarks
Following the BJP's harshly worded show-cause notice earlier in the day, which accused Singh of harming the party through his public statements and actions, the leader resigned. He sent his resignation letter to BJP President JP Nadda.
He wrote, “I have received a letter forwarded by some members of the media (copy enclosed) stating that the party has decided to suspend me for anti-party activities and asking as to why I should not be expelled from the party. The letter does not specify the anti-party activities of which I have been accused. I cannot give a show cause against charges that have not been specified.”
He added, “The show cause is probably because of my statement against distribution of tickets to people with a criminal background. The statement is not anti-party. It is in the interest of the nation, the society at large, and the party to stop the criminalization of politics and to curb corruption, but it appears that some people in the party are not comfortable with this. I have given a reply to the state BJP office (copy enclosed). I hereby resign from the primary membership of the Bharatiya Janata Party” in his letter.

A show cause letter was issued by Arvind Sharma. He is in-charge of BJP State headquarters. He wrote, “Your activities are against the party. This falls within the scope of discipline. The party has taken this seriously as it has caused harm to the party. Therefore, as directed, you are being suspended from the party and asked to explain why you should not be expelled. Please clarify your position within a week of receiving this letter” in his letter.
Complaints against him of anti-party activities, particularly during the recent Bihar assembly polls, are among the reasons that have led to action against Singh, according to reports. They added that the former union minister was levelling allegations against his own partymen.
