New Delhi (India) September 25: India has successfully tested the Agni-P. It is a next generation ballistic missile with nuclear capability. The test demonstrates the missile's technological capabilities. It was carried out from Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Island by the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO).

Defence Minister Praises DRDO and Armed Forces

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated the Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO). He said that a rail-based mobile launcher system could quickly launch the intermediate ballistic missile.

He posted, "The first-of-its-kind launch carried out from specially designed Rail based Mobile Launcher, has the capability to move on Rail network without any pre-conditions that allows User to have a cross country mobility and launch within a short reaction time with reduced visibility," on social media platform X.

The Defense Minister acknowledges the Armed Forces and SFC on the successful Intermediate Range Agni-Prime missile test. He adds that India is now one of the few countries that has created a canisterized launch system from a rail network.

The trial was carried out under full operational conditions in cooperation with Strategic Forces Command. According to a DRDO release, this next-generation missile has several cutting-edge capabilities. It is intended to have a range of up to 2000 kilometers.

Historic Launch from Rail-Based Mobile System

According to DRDO, the missile trajectory was monitored by multiple ground stations. The launch met all mission objectives. The introduction of futuristic rail-based systems into services will be made possible by this successful launch. Strategic Forces Command officers and leading DRDO experts observed the launch.

The Agni-Prime or Agni-P is a two-stage, solid-fuelled, road mobile, canister-launched, surface-to-surface and medium-range ballistic missile. It is designed to be used in the Strategic Forces Command's operational service. It is the sixth DRDO-developed missile in the Agni series.

The Agni-P missile is an important addition to India's defense arsenal because of its many important qualities.

Advanced Features and Navigation Systems

The missile has a micro inertial navigation system (MINS) and an inertial navigation system (INS) based on ring laser gyro technology. GPS and NaVIC are satellite navigational options.

The Agni-P missile is a dependable deterrence against any threats because of its outstanding accuracy in prior tests.

India's defense capabilities will be significantly impacted by the Agni-P missile's successful test-firing. The missile's canisterized design makes it simple to transport and store. It cuts down on the amount of time needed to get ready for launch.

Strategic Importance for India’s Defense

The 2,000-kilometer range of this next-generation missile is intended to cover both Pakistan and a sizable portion of China.

It allows for cross-country mobility and can launch with little visibility and a quick reaction time. The missile is self-sufficient and has all the qualities of an independent launch capability. It includes cutting-edge protection and communication systems.

Future Induction into Armed Forces

It is anticipated that the DRDO will carry out more testing to confirm the missile's functionality and performance. It is also expected that the Agni-P missile will be incorporated into the Indian Armed Forces after the conclusion of pre-induction testing.
