New Delhi (India) December 23: The ECI issued a draft electoral rolls of the voters in Kerala on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2025, during a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise ahead of the State assembly elections scheduled for next year.

Draft Electoral Rolls Released Today

A draft list for SIR of electoral rolls, by the Office of the Chief Electoral Officers, was published today at 3 pm. The office also clarified that the voter list showing the previous circulation was not the official SIR draft list.

Under the SIR, enumeration forms were given to roughly 2.78 crore voters in Kerala as per the October 2025 electoral roll. Out of these, about 2.54 crore people have so far returned their filled forms. The Election Commission says that nearly 24 lakh voters were not found during the enumeration process. Lists of such voters have already been prepared, so the draft list will have 2.54 crore names.

Key SIR Process and Stats

Special Intensive Revision (SIR) is a procedure of updating and verifying electoral rolls, by the Election Commission of India. The booth level officers visit houses door to door and collect documents that prove eligibility to ensure that all qualified people are included in the list and the fake voters are removed.

This operation is necessary, as it helps to guarantee that only qualified people have the right to vote. At various times during the activity, duplicate entries and the names of dead people are located and eliminated.

Nationwide SIR Rollout

The ECI issued SIR after Bihar in 12 states and Union Territories with over 51 crore registered voters. The poll panel has already released draft elections for Goa, Gujarat, Lakshadweep, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and West Bengal.

How to Check and Act on Your Voter Status?

The voter may choose a district and assembly constituency and will be given a chance to obtain the SIR draft roll from the voters service portal. Enter your part number and part name to download the pdf.
