Khalilur Rahman to Meet Ajit Doval in New Delhi to Deepen India-Bangladesh Security Cooperation
Khalilur Rahman, the interim government of Bangladesh's national security advisor, will be hosted by National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. The purpose of this meeting is to deepen the two nations' security dialogue.
New Delhi (India) November 18: Doval will welcome Rahman, his Bangladeshi counterpart, amid escalating tensions between the two nations. Next week, the meeting will take place in New Delhi. Rahman will be attending the Colombo Security Conclave on November 19–20 as the head of the Bangladeshi delegation.
The meeting with NSA-level representatives from Mauritius and the Maldives will be chaired by Mr. Doval.
Bangladesh interim government prioritizes security dialogue
Dr. Rahman’s visit is an important move to retain the security dialogue between Bangladesh and India. This will also strengthen the regional collaboration between the two countries.
Rahman's presence in the conference represents the continuous efforts of the Dhaka interim government. They have made regional engagement a top priority.
Rahman has been an important ambassador for Bangladesh's interim administration in recent months. He has represented the country in discussions with partners in the US, Qatar, China and other countries.
Rahman’s visit comes amid tense India-Bangladesh relations after the removal of Sheikh Hasina
In order to aid civilians in the area affected by the conflict, Mr. Rahman has also backed the "humanitarian corridor." He is in favour of giving the residents of Myanmar's Rakhine province humanitarian aid.
The high-level meeting will happen at a sensitive moment. This is because following the removal of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, relations between Bangladesh and India remain tense. It is expected that Rahman's visit will pave the way for bilateral discussions on shared regional security concerns.
Doval dismisses deepfake video
Ajit Doval is the national security adviser of India. He has denied the authenticity of a widely shared video clip on social media. The video shows that Doval is claiming that "more Hindus than Muslims" are recruited to Pakistan's ISI.
According to a News18 report, Doval stated that he has never made such a claim. He called the video a deepfake. It was meant to harm India's national security narrative.
According to Doval, such media tools are being used to undermine India's counterterrorism efforts and jeopardise national security. He reiterates that he has never said anything disparaging about Muslims or Hindus.
