New Delhi (India) July 13: On Day 3 of the current third Test match against England, star Indian batsman KL Rahul became the second Indian batsman to reach multiple Test hundreds at Lord's. Rahul joined Dilip Vengsarkar in a special group at the historic venue, where he scored his second century.

A Century to Remember

On the third day of the India-England Test match at Lord's, KL Rahul scored his tenth century in 176 balls. Rahul has now reached his second century in a series. He is the 18th Indian player to reach double digits in his career Test century total.

Rahul said, "I spent some time with an expert for some mental drills to improve my reaction times" in a press conference.

He added, "Seen this in Formula One. Worked with coaches who work with F1 guys and adventure sports. That's the only thing which has been different. I always enjoy batting long hours. I have strived for consistency all my career. Happy that performances are coming through now.”

England Turns Lucky Again

In addition, the 33-year-old became the fourth visiting opener to reach double hundreds at Lord's. Before him, Bill Brown (Australia), Gordon Greenidge (West Indies) and Graeme Smith (South Africa), have scored two hundreds.

Rahul made his Test debut for India in the 2014 Boxing Day Test against Australia in Melbourne. He got his first Test century at Lord's in the 2021 series. He scored 129 runs in the first innings. It earned him the title of Player of the Match.

He has already hit two centuries at Lord's. A fantastic 149 at The Oval in 2018 and 137 at Headingley in the current series. This is his fourth century on English soil.

Vengsarkar holds the record for the most centuries by a visiting hitter at Lord's after scoring an incredible three hundreds there in three straight Test matches. Rahul's century was his fourth overall in England and his tenth Test century. In England, he already holds the record for the most hundreds scored by an Indian opener.

Historic Knock at Lord’s

Rahul started his innings with a 53-run overnight total. He started up by hitting Woakes with a boundary. Rahul entered the nineties just before lunch.

The standout hitter hit a fast single against Jofra Archer after lunch to reach the three-figure mark. He was only the fourth visiting opener to score several hundred runs at Lord's. 

Rahul was unable to convert his century into a big knock. He got out at 100 by Shoaib Bashir. Bashir edged him to Harry Brook at first slip.
