New Delhi (India) January 14: Rohit Sharma was replaced by Virat Kohli, the top ranked batter in men’s ODIs on the ICC table, on Sunday after his 91-ball 93 put India on track to top New Zealand’s 300 in the first ODI of the three-match series in Vadodara.

Eleven stints at No.1: Kohli’s 825 days as ODI rankings king

The latest update now saw Kohli top the table for the 11th time. He first arrived in October 2013 and has now spent 825 days at No.1 on the circuit; he’s the most common batter of an Indian batter.

Kohli is tenth in the all-time list, with Vivian Richards at No. 1. Kohli brought the score of 93 off 91 balls to close the chase, closing the distance between him and the Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar and placing him in the running spots behind him on the all-time men’s international run-scoring list.

Rohit Sharma slips to third after series opener

He has been in top condition since the 50-over series in Australia, scoring 74 not out, 135, 102, 65 not out and 93 in his last five matches.

For Rohit, not only did he give up the top spot but he also slipped two spots in the opening ODI with only 26 runs. KL Rahul becomes the only other batter to move himself up the table, making a move from No. 12 to No. 11 after scoring 29 not out in 21 deliveries in Vadodara.

Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer retain top-10 ODI batting positions

India’s captain Shubman Gill is now still at fifth place in the rankings, while Shreyas Iyer is still the other Indian batter placed just in the top 10.

Daryl Mitchell, who top scored for New Zealand in that game with 84 in 71 balls, has moved up to No. 2 from No. 3. But with a single standout innings, those spots could shift: Kohli has 785 points, Mitchell 784, Rohit 775.

Rashid Khan leads unchanged ODI bowling; Siraj breaks into top 15

The standings for the top ten ODI bowlers, likewise remained unchanged, with Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan still first on the list.

In the ODI bowlers ranking update, Mohammed Siraj’s strong showing helped him to rise five spots above his rank to end up at no. 15, together with Bangladesh's Mehidy Hasan Miraz.

Root holds firm at No.1

Travis Head and Steve Smith have reached third and fourth in the ICC Men’s Test Player Rankings respectively, after first-innings centuries in the final Ashes Test. Australia delivered a 4-1 victory in Sydney.

England’s Joe Root, having scored a century in Australia, still led and Harry Brook is second.

Ashes heroes shake up Test rankings

Mitchell Starc has picked up 31 wickets in the Test bowling rankings — making him go from 9th to 3rd – and his batting places him among the top five Test all-rounders. Scott Boland’s 20 wickets helped keep him in seventh place.

Michael Neser broke into the top 50 for the first time ever and England’s Josh Tongue has climbed nine places to 21st place nationally, after a six-wicket haul in the match.
