New Delhi (India) January 14: Chief of the Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi said that Operation Sindoor was a hallmark of India’s determination and restraint, which exemplifies the moral strength and professional merit of the military. 

Stern Warning to Pakistan Amid Ongoing Operation

Operation Sindoor remains ongoing, and any misadventure on the part of the adversary will be quickly dealt with, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi said on Tuesday, issuing a stern warning to Pakistan. 

General Dwivedi, speaking at a ceremony of investiture at the South Western Command that is in Jaipur, said the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force had cooperated in precision strikes on nine terrorist camps and infrastructure in Pakistan under Operation Sindoor. 

J&K Security Boost: 31 Terrorists Eliminated in 2025

Giving an update on the situation, the Army Chief indicated that since May 10 the situation in the Western Front and Jammu and Kashmir has been sensitive but has been firmly under control. 

Security forces killed 31 terrorists in 2025, almost 65% of them Pakistani. These numbers include the three perpetrators of the Pahalgam terror attack. General Dwivedi highlighted a dramatic improvement in the internal security environment and said that the number of active local terrorists had dropped to one digit while fresh recruitment had become virtually non-existent to which only two cases had been reported in 2025. 

Drone Threats Neutralized, Discussed in DGMO Talks

On recent drone sightings across the border, General Dwivedi said that the Indian Army had caught sight of a small number of small drones operating at low altitudes with lights on. 

The drones also seemed to get a “negative response,” as there were no vulnerabilities detected, he added. He acknowledges that the problem was brought up in the DGMO talks on Tuesday. 

Success in Conflicts: Nations Win with Strong Preparation

In a wider strategic spirit, the Army chief said international armed conflicts only bring success to the nations that have good preparation, emphasizing the need for sustained military readiness.

Concerning another occurrence, when referring to another matter, the Army’s contribution to the involvement of veterans in national security and planning, former service members added in strategic thinking and operational planning through Operation Sindoor when speaking to other events, was reiterated by General Dwivedi. 

NCC Cadets' Vital Role in National Defence Vision

The Army Chief said more than 75 thousand NCC cadets across the country volunteered and worked tirelessly for civil defence, hospital management, disaster relief and community services during Operation Sindoor. 

NCC cadets embody the motto of unity and discipline, he said. General Dwivedi explained that only through youth leaders, NCC cadets, innovators, educators, engineers, doctors, soldiers and citizens can we achieve the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. They also need to rise with confidence, march with discipline, innovate with integrity and serve the country, he said. 

This was said over a statement at the National Cadet Corps (NCC) Republic Day Parade Camp 2026 in New Delhi, General Dwivedi pointed out.
