LA Protests: US President Donald Trump deploys marines in Los Angeles: protests continue
Trump has threatened to take harsher action against those who oppose immigration arrests by sending hundreds of active-duty Marines to Los Angeles.

New Delhi (India) June 11: California has filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration after the US president ordered the deployment of 2,000 more California National Guard personnel to the Los Angeles region in the midst of the city's continuous protests.
According to U.S. President Donald Trump, the only thing keeping Los Angeles from "burning to the ground" due to protests against his immigration crackdown was his deployment of Marines and other troops there.
He posted, “If I didn't 'SEND IN THE TROOPS' to Los Angeles the last three nights, that once beautiful and great City would be burning to the ground right now" on his account on Truth Social.
In response to demonstrations against immigration officials, the Pentagon is anticipated to send roughly 700 active-duty Marines from southern California to Los Angeles. California officials have filed a lawsuit against US President Donald Trump in an attempt to reverse the National Guard deployment of the administration.
Last week, Trump abruptly started the campaign to track down and deport undocumented migrants. He says that they have launched an "invasion" of the United States which resulted in the protests. The small-scale protests are about to enter their fifth day. There have been few violent clashes between demonstrators and police.
Officials in California have emphasised that most protesters have been nonviolent and that they are capable of upholding law and order on their own.
California has filed a lawsuit to restrict the military's operations to federal locations, and Governor Gavin Newsom stated that Trump's plan to use military personnel against civilian demonstrators should "alarm" Americans.
He posted, “US Marines have served honourably across multiple wars in defence of democracy. They shouldn’t be deployed on American soil facing their own countrymen to fulfil the deranged fantasy of a dictatorial President. This is un-American” on social media platform X.
According to California Attorney General Rob Bonta, the National Guard deployment "trampled" on the state's sovereignty and was "illegal." In response, Bonta filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration on Monday.
