New Delhi (India) November 1: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday wished Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut a speedy recovery, after he announced he would take a break from public life asking for “serious health issues”.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted, "Praying for your speedy recovery and good health, Sanjay Raut Ji” on social media platform X.
Raut acknowledged the message. He replied in Hindi, "Respected Prime Minister Ji, thank you! My family is grateful to you! Jai Hind! Jai Maharashtra!”
Raut Announces Two-Month Break from Public Life
The symmetrical exchanges were triggered after Raut, a Rajya Sabha parliamentarian, had identified his condition on X.
He posted, As per medical advice, I have been instructed to avoid public appearances and gatherings for some time. I regret this deeply. I am confident that I will recover completely and, hopefully, meet you all again in the New Year."
Raut reported his medical status to followers on X and received medical instructions from a physician not to speak with the audience.
Absence from Upcoming Protest
Raut was supposed to be present during the Opposition Parliament’s demonstration outside the Election Commission on November 1.
He is a Rajya Sabha MP. He has been a contentious leader in the Uddhav Thackeray’s faction of Shiv Sena and has often voiced opposition to the NDA government led by the BJP.
Doctors Advise Rest After Past Heart Procedures
Sources close to Raut said the doctors have prescribed him to take some rest since he had two angioplasties in 2019 and 2020.
Absence Felt Ahead of Crucial Maharashtra Elections
Raut abysmally removes himself from view as Maharashtra prepares for crucial local polls. The municipal council elections are anticipated next month, with the zilla parishads following in December and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections in January 2023.
Raut, the Uddhav Thackeray faction’s chief strategist and most audibly belligerent, will be significantly absent amidst this contest.
