Bengal has seen such political fights for decades and it seems the coming election will be very heated.
Uttarakhand at 25 Brings Big Reforms and Big Challenges Together
Uttarakhand completed 25 years and the year was full of activity. The government introduced the Uniform Civil Code in January. This was the first time a state brought common personal laws for all. Soon after, it changed land laws to stop misuse of hill land. Many people in the hills had demanded this for years. The state also faced a rise in wildlife attacks. Leopards and bears entered villages more often. The government planned new measures for safety. Politically, Congress and BJP kept attacking each other. Towards the end of the year, the Pauri murder case linked to viral clips created more heat. The state also focused on roads, tourism and mining reforms.
