New Delhi (India) September 25: India has officially complained to the ICC about the disrespectful actions of Pakistani cricketers Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan during their Asia Cup Super 4 match here last Sunday.

BCCI Demands Strict Action from ICC

According to sources, the BCCI lodged the complaint against the pair on Wednesday. The ICC has received the email. If Sahibzada and Rauf write down their denials of these accusations, an ICC hearing is anticipated. They may be required to appear for a hearing before Richie Richardson, the ICC Elite Panel Referee.

The Indian side demands "strict action" from match referee Andy Pycroft. This is against Farhan and Rauf's "provocative and indecent behaviour" during the Asia Cup match at the Dubai International Stadium last Sunday.

The report says, "Such on-field behaviour is against the spirit of the game. We have complained to Andy Pycroft about this and demand strict action. Not only has an official complaint been made to Pycroft, but videos of Rauf and Sahibzada have also been attached to the email.”

Rauf’s Mocking Gesture Sparks Outrage

Rauf mocked India's military action during the September 21 match. He made gestures that showed a jet being brought down. This was after Indian supporters screamed "Kohli, Kohli". It was in reference to the Indian cricketer’s two game-winning sixes against the pacer at MCG during the 2022 T20 World Cup match.

During his bowling spell during the match, he also threw insults at Indian openers Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma. The two young players retaliated with their bats. Sahibzada used his bat as a machine gun prop to celebrate with a gun-firing gesture during the same match. It has drawn a lot of criticism.

Farhan said, "That celebration was just a moment at that time. I do not do a lot of celebrations after scoring 50. But, it suddenly came to my mind that let's do a celebration today. I did that. I don't know how people will take it. I don't care about that," after the match.

Videos of Rauf making the gesture went viral on social media. Many Indian fans took issue with the 31-year-old, mocking and trolling him for his behavior.

ICC Hearing Expected for Both Players

The ICC hearing will require Rauf and Sahibzada to defend their gestures. If they are unable to do so, they may be subject to punishment under the code of conduct.

It is interesting to note that Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav was the subject of two complaints to the ICC previously filed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

PCB criticized Suryakumar Yadav for making a political remark about the Pahalgam incident following the game on September 14.
