Manav Suthar Spins India to a Big Win in Galle.

India had a dominant performance in the first Test against Sri Lanka, defeating the hosts by 165 runs in Galle. India took a 1-0 lead in the two-match Test series.

The biggest star of the match was Manav Suthar, who finished with a 10-wicket haul. He took four wickets in Sri Lanka's first innings and added six more in the second innings and changed the game completely in India's favour.

Manav Suthar Completes 10-Wicket Haul

Suthar was one of the dominant bowlers in the Test for India. After four wickets in the first innings, he returned in Sri Lanka's second innings and was again able to trouble the batters with his spin.

Sri Lanka were chasing a huge target of 372 runs and were hoping to survive the final day. But Suthar’s bowling finally broke their resistance.

He dismissed Sonal Dinusha for 84, ending one of Sri Lanka’s most important partnerships. Dinusha had played a fighting knock and reached his half-century with a six against Kuldeep Yadav.

Suthar then struck again and removed Prabath Jayasuriya for a first-ball duck. He went on to complete his five-wicket haul by dismissing Lahiru Kumara, leaving India just one wicket away from victory.
Suthar eventually claimed the final wicket to complete his 10-wicket match haul and seal India's emphatic win.

Sri Lanka Fight Back Before India's Late Surge

Sri Lanka began Day 5 with a big target of 372 runs. India needed six wickets to complete the victory, but the hosts initially refused to give up.
Dhananjaya de Silva and Sonal Dinusha formed a strong partnership and frustrated the Indian bowlers. De Silva brought up a fighting half-century while Dinusha also reached his fifty with a six.

The partnership had taken Sri Lanka to 142/4 and appeared to be putting pressure on India. But Ravindra Jadeja finally made the breakthrough when Dhananjaya tried to sweep and top-edged the ball. Manav Suthar took the catch.

Prasidh Krishna Removes Dickwella

India continued to push for quick wickets as rain threatened to interrupt play in Galle.

Prasidh Krishna was introduced into the attack and used short-pitched deliveries to trouble the Sri Lankan batters. His plan worked when Niroshan Dickwella edged one behind the stumps, where Rishabh Pant made the catch.
With Sri Lanka's middle order broken, India began to take control of the match again.

Rain Threat Added to India's Pressure

The possibility of rain made it a higher stakes for India. The visitors needed to finish the match quickly to not let Sri Lanka continue to bat for a long time.

KL Rahul admitted after the match that the Indian team was closely watching the clouds and knew that a heavy shower could arrive.
India therefore kept attacking and looked for wickets instead of allowing Sri Lanka’s resistance to continue.

India Win by 165 Runs

After Sri Lanka's lower order collapsed, India completed a convincing 165-run victory.
Manav Suthar’s 10-wicket haul proved decisive, while Ravindra Jadeja and Prasidh Krishna also played important roles in breaking Sri Lanka’s resistance.

The victory takes India to a 1-0 lead in the two-match Test series and puts the visitors in a strong position heading into the next match.
