ICC Hall of Fame 2025: MS Dhoni among the cricketers to be felicitated
On June 9, 2025, the ICC will celebrate 'A Day with the Legends' by inducting seven cricketing icons into its Hall of Fame.

New Delhi (India) June 10: The ICC will conduct a gala ceremony at the Abbey Road Studios in London on Monday to induct an esteemed group of former cricketers and add seven new members to the ICC Hall of Fame. The ceremony will also be the prelude to the June 11 World Test Championship final between Australia and South Africa at Lord's.
The Hall of Fame honours cricket players who have had a significant influence on the sport. They have already honoured 115 members and this year's inclusion will bring two female and five male cricket players to the group.
The players include MS Dhoni, Daniel Vettori, Matthew Hayden, Graeme Smith, Hashim Amla, Sarah Taylor and Sana Mir.
ICC Chairman Jay Shah said, "Through the ICC Hall of Fame, we pay tribute to the finest players the game has seen, individuals whose remarkable careers have shaped cricket's legacy and inspired generations”
“This year, we are privileged to induct seven truly outstanding individuals into this prestigious group. On behalf of the ICC, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to each of them and hope they cherish this well-deserved recognition as a defining moment in their cricketing journey.”
A panel made up of current Hall of Famers, ICC representatives, and media specialists will select the new inductees. A unique cap will be given to each inductee in honour of their contributions to cricket history.
An ICC statement said, "The new inductees, who were selected by a panel of ICC Hall of Famers, senior executives, and media representatives, will be honoured with commemorative caps recognising their remarkable contributions to the game.”
The inductions will be followed by a special segment where Australia's Pat Cummins and South Africa's Temba Bavuma will share their thoughts on the next World Test Championship Final.
MS Dhoni, India's most successful captain and finisher is inducted. His most memorable moment was the six that won the 2011 World Cup. He is the only player to have won all three major ICC white-ball titles: the 2007 T20 World Cup, the 2011 ODI World Cup and the 2013 Champions Trophy.
Dhoni said, "It is an honour to be named in the ICC Hall of Fame, which recognises the contributions of cricketers across generations and from all over the world”
"To have your name remembered alongside such all-time greats is a wonderful feeling. It is something that I will cherish forever.”
Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble, Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, Virender Sehwag, Vinoo Mankad, Diana Edulji, and Bishan Singh Bedi are among the Indian cricket players who are already a part of the Hall of Fame.
