New Delhi (India) November 8: The law will take its own course in the controversial land deal case in Pune, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Ajit Pawar on Tuesday said about the inquiry against his son, Parth Pawar. He spoke to chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis personally seeking a thorough probe into the matter.

FIR filed over sale of 40-acre plot in Pune’s upscale Mundhwa area

On Thursday, the spotlight was on a ₹300 crore deal in which 40 acres of government land at upscale Mundhwa area were sold to Amadea Enterprises LLP after it was alleged that the government’s permission would have been required for the sale and compensation towards stamp duty too wasn’t paid. Opposition leaders also claimed that the market worth of land was ₹1,800 crore.

Police have registered an FIR - filed through a complaint by Inspector General of Registrar's office - against Digvijay Patil, Shital Tejwani (the ‘owner’ figure head for 272 conveyance docs who was appointed as power of attorney) and sub-registrar R B Taru for misappropriation and cheating.

Deputy CM promises full cooperation

Pawar promised full cooperation in the inquiry, even though the case involved members of his family.

He said, “Everything in this matter should happen according to the rules. When this issue came up, I personally spoke to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis over the phone while he was in Nagpur. I told him that even though this case involves my family, as the head of the state, he should take any action as per the rules. He can initiate any investigation, form a committee at any level. We will fully cooperate in this matter. It is easy to make allegations, but the truth should come out before the public.”

Pawar insists no money exchanged

Ajit Pawar also made it clear that initial inquiry shows there was no financial transaction in the deal. He said he does not mind if the Opposition makes him a target on the issue.

He said, “The investigation has revealed that not even a single rupee was exchanged in this matter. The opposition tried to target us on this issue, which is their right, and we have no objection. But later in the evening, I was informed that all documents related to this case have been canceled and all transactions nullified.”

Government suspends officials, orders Revenue and EOW investigation

After the row, the Maharashtra government put two of its officers – Tehsildar Suryakant Yevale and Sub-Registrar Ravindra Taru -related to the transaction under suspension.
